COPPER SURCHARGE
WHAT IS THE COPPER SURCHARGE?
Copper is a central component of many of our products - especially in our assembled cables and flat cables. As the price of copper is subject to strong fluctuations, it is not included in the fixed product price. Instead, we charge a variable copper surcharge based on the average price of the previous quarter.
WHERE CAN I FIND THE CURRENT COPPER SURCHARGE?
We publish the currently valid copper surcharge transparently on this page. The basis is the copper rate of the London Metal Exchange plus handling costs. The values are updated at the beginning of each new quarter and are based on the average price of the past three months.
HOW IS THE COPPER SURCHARGE CALCULATED?
The product price already includes a copper base of 150.00 EUR/100 kg. When the order is placed, the difference to the average copper price of the previous quarter is calculated as a copper surcharge. It is calculated individually for each product - transparently, comprehensibly and on the basis of clearly defined parameters.
Calculation method for the copper surcharge:
Copper surcharge = copper weight x (Ø copper rate - copper basis)
- Copper weight:
Copper weight of the article (indicated in gr./100 pcs. in the price list)
- Ø Copper rate:
Average copper price of the previous quarter according to LSE in EUR per 100 kg (e.g. 900.00 €/100 kg) plus purchase and handling costs
- Copper basis:
Copper value already included in the price ( 150.00 €/100 kg)

Copper surcharge:
4.30 kg/100 pcs. × (900.00 EUR/100 kg – 150.00 EUR/100 kg) = 32.25 EUR/100 pcs.
TO WHICH PRODUCTS DOES THE COPPER SURCHARGE APPLY?
The copper surcharge applies to all products with a relevant copper content. Currently, this applies in particular to our assembled cables and flat cables. Other product groups may follow and will be added to this page accordingly.
WHEN AND HOW IS THE SURCHARGE TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT?
The copper surcharge is automatically shown in quotations, order confirmations and invoices and listed separately from the basic product price. It is therefore an integral part of commercial processing. The copper surcharge is not discountable.

Does the copper surcharge also apply to existing framework agreements?
Yes, unless otherwise agreed in the contract, the current copper surcharge also applies to call-offs from existing framework agreements.
How often is the surcharge updated?
The copper surcharge is expected to be adjusted at the beginning of each new quarter. The basis is the average copper price over the past three months.
Is the surcharge also relevant for small quantities or sample orders?
Yes, the copper surcharge is calculated regardless of order value or quantity, as long as the product contains a relevant amount of copper.
Can I view or download the surcharge separately?
The currently applicable surcharge is published directly on this page. A separate download is not planned at this time.
Why is the copper surcharge not included in the product price?
Since the price of copper is subject to strong fluctuations, a fixed price would not reflect the actual market situation. By applying a separate copper surcharge, we ensure transparency and fair pricing.
