NEW: RST® DIRECT
Directly and without detours
In practice, traditional device connections using cable glands often involve additional work. Devices must be opened, cables cut to length and stripped, connections wired manually and then securely closed again. Each of these steps takes time, ties up skilled personnel and increases the risk of errors or leaks. With RST® DIRECT, Wieland Electric now offers a solution that significantly simplifies this process. The direct connection solution enables the permanent connection of lights and electrical devices without having to open the device for the electrical connection. The system will be presented live for the first time at Light + Building 2026 at the exhibition stand in Hall 12, Stand E71.
Instead of individual manual steps, this system creates a clearly defined, standardised connection process. The device can be integrated directly into the existing infrastructure, which shortens installation times and makes assembly processes more predictable. At the same time, the integrity of the device is maintained, as there is no need to open the housing, which in turn increases process stability, improves tightness and ensures a permanently protected connection solution with a high IP protection class in accordance with standards.
Safety and process stability
RST® DIRECT brings speed, protection and operational safety to device connections and is suitable not only for luminaires, but also for numerous other electrical applications. The robust connection housing with defined strain relief ensures a permanently reliable installation, even under the most demanding environmental conditions, as the integrated longitudinal water seal in RST® DIRECT provides reliable protection against so-called ‘longitudinal water’. This is moisture that penetrates the interior of the cable via damaged or injured cables and spreads to connected consumers through the capillary effect.

RST® DIRECT cable connector: This is the practical RST® DIRECT variant for extensions, repairs and retrofitting measures – for example, in the event of cable breaks or when devices need to be retrofitted using short cable sections.
RST® DIRECT offers a number of specific advantages:
- Highest IP protection
- Internal waterstop for additional protection against moisture penetration inside the cable
- Modular design for maximum flexibility
- Tool-free conductor connection
- Clear pole markings
Flexible system
The modular design of the system provides a high degree of flexibility and forms the basis for a wide range of application requirements. Building on this, internal adapters with push-in connections enable particularly convenient integration into the device and at the same time open up prospects for automated or robot-assisted wiring processes, for example in industrial manufacturing environments. Two variants are available depending on the application. One version with one clamping point per pole is designed for compact single connections, while the variant with two connections per pole allows practical through-wiring, thus creating additional degrees of freedom in the device architecture.
The system logic is also consistently well thought-out in everyday practical installation. The new convenient connection with lever allows tool-free installation without great effort, thus speeding up processes on the construction site. Single and fine-stranded conductors up to 2.5 mm² are securely clamped, while the clear pole marking ensures good readability even in poor lighting conditions. In addition, the clearly noticeable locking of the lever mechanism provides additional safety during the installation process and gives the user reliable feedback.
At the same time, the system remains open for adjustments to existing installations, as the three- and five-pole versions can be inserted directly into prepared M20 housing bushings. This makes it possible to switch from classic cable glands to modern connection technology with manageable effort and clearly calculable time requirements.
Experts on site
In Hall 12 at Stand E71, the experts from Wieland Electric will be demonstrating the new RST® DIRECT system in practical use and explaining how the solution can be seamlessly integrated into holistic installation concepts. Visitors will gain an insight into the interaction with other system components and will be able to discuss specific applications directly with the specialists.
