Modification of machines in the context of the new Machinery Regulation

The conversion and modernization of existing machines are an integral part of everyday industrial life. Modifications save costs and extend life cycles – but they also involve considerable legal and regulatory pitfalls. The new EU Machinery Regulation (MRE) is fundamentally changing the rules of the game for modifications, substantial modifications, and interlinked machines.

This seminar provides practical and legally compliant guidance on how to evaluate modification projects today and in the future. You will learn when a conversion is considered a (non-)substantial modification, when a new CE marking is required, and how modifications can be specifically designed to avoid unnecessary conformity procedures.

A particular focus is placed on the relevant changes to the Machinery Regulation: the classification of substantial modifications according to MRE logic and the effects on interlinked machines and overall systems.
